Banjo Workshops (Intermediate and Up) 
Instructors: Cathy Fink, Adam Hurt

Join Adam and Cathy for a beautiful weekend in the Smokey Mountains in the hometown of banjo player/songwriter, Ola Belle Reed. This is an intimate immersion workshop for only 10 students. The weekend is for Intermediate and Advanced players.

Location Lansing, NC (nearest airports are Charlotte – 3hrs, or Tri-Cities – 2hrs): Near the quaint town of West Jefferson, hiking, arts, crafts and good vibes.

Accommodations (on your own): We will hold two cabins close to the retreat that you can rent on your own or with friends. Additional cabins available via Air BnB and similar services.

Cost: $400 includes all instruction, jam sessions, snacks, lunch on Saturday, Pancake Breakfast on Sunday.

Tentative schedule:  

Friday, April 5
5:30-6:30pm – Check-in
6:30-9:00pm – Light food & drink, Informal evening with meet-and-greet, Overview of weekend plans, Jam session, Big-Group Jamming, etc.,

Saturday, April 6
Breakfast on your own. Coffee & tea will be available.
9:30-10:45am – Cathy teaches a class for everyone
10:45-11am – Break
11-12:15am – Adam teaches a class for everyone
12:15-1:45pm – Lunch break – Sandwiches, fruit, snacks provided
1:45-2:30pm Cathy & Adam co-taught class: Strategies for Learning Fiddle Tunes
2:45-4:45pm – PRIVATE LESSONS for everyone: each camper gets 15-20 minutes with ONE instructor (we assign the instructor), loose time for practicing, hiking, socializing, napping, etc.
6pm – Dinner at Pie on the Mountain in Lansing, self-pay, eat with group
8:30-9:30pm – Instructor concert
9:30-10:30pm – Jam session
Later- jam at your residence or sleep or review what you’ve learned….

Sunday, April 6
9:30am – Pancake Breakfast
10:30-11:45am – Cathy & Adam co-taught class. Topics to be gathered from class ideas
12pm –Weekend review: loose ends, nagging questions, suggestions for campers’ music-making future
12:30-1:30pm – the LAST jam! Bye, Bye
